( Sukuk.net - Times of Oman)Oman Telec-ommunications Company (Omantel) has qualified for the second stage of obtaining the third nation-wide mobile network operator licence in the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of a consortium comprising local and international partners. Omantel said the company's decision to enter the competition for the third mobile network operator in Iran comes within the framework of its efforts to boost its local and foreign investments by joining a global consortium. Iran constitutes one of the biggest regional telecom markets, with a population of 73 million, and mobile communications penetration less than 60 per cent (the number of subscribers to the population). The under-25 population accounts for 50 per cent of the total Iranian population. This shows that there are huge opportunities for growth in this sector in the future. Omantel will enjoy exclusive rights to offer full range of third and second generations mobile communications services in Iran. .bookmarks { CLEAR: both; BORDER-RIGHT: #e4e4e6 1px solid; PADDING-RIGHT: 5px; BORDER-TOP: #e4e4e6 1px solid; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; FLOAT: left; MARGIN-BOTTOM: 10px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; BORDER-LEFT: #e4e4e6 1px solid; PADDING-TOP: 0px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #e4e4e6 1px solid } A.BoxLinks { COLOR: #015fb6; TEXT-DECORATION: none } END.BoxButtons { vertical-align: middle; BORDER-TOP-STYLE: none; BORDER-RIGHT-STYLE: none; BORDER-LEFT-STYLE: none; BORDER-BOTTOM-STYLE: none } #yahooBuzzBadge-form { FLOAT: left } #yahooBuzzBadge-form SPAN { WIDTH: 0px } Digg This Article Digg Add to Delicious Del.icio.us Seed this article Newsvine ARTICLEURL Add to Reddit Reddit Add to furl Furl ` omar1.1 mfn
