The Takaful industry has strong foundations but risk management in adverse times is essential to make the most of opportunities for growth
Now in its second year, The Ernst & Young World Takaful Report 2009 will be launched during an interactive presentation at the 4th Annual World Takaful Conference, which will be held in
Dubai at the Dusit Hotel on the 14th and 15th of April 2009
This yearâs Ernst & Young World Takaful Report is even more strongly anticipated by the industry as new and meaningful strategic insights into changing market directions becoming increasingly vital as industry leaders seek to navigate unprecedented economic challenges.
âThe EY World Takaful Report 2009 could not be launched at a more opportune time as the CEOs of leading international Takaful players tackle the challenges of steering profitable growth for their institutions â a task made even more challenging by the continuing fall-out from the global economic crisisâ observes David McLean, the Managing Director of MEGA, the owners of the World Takaful Conference.
Notwithstanding the effects of the crisis in the international financial markets, major opportunities continue to exist in the international arena for Takaful products. The market still remains under-penetrated with large untapped potential still to be realised in key countries. The EY World Takaful Report offers detailed insights into these markets and opportunities. This yearâs Report will probe how the Islamic insurance industry can catalyse the next phase of growth, providing industry leaders with new insights as they seek to renew their
business strategies in a challenging global economic climate.
According to Sameer Abdi, Partner-Head of
Islamic Finance Services at Ernst & Young:
âThe Report, now in its second year, examines the ways in which the Takaful industry is responding to the challenges - and the opportunities - posed by the financial crisis. This year's report builds upon the quantitative and qualitative perspectives provided by industry experts in the first edition. As well as examining mega trends in the global Takaful industry, it will offer in-depth coverage of the Takaful industry in the
Middle East and Asia, as well as emerging markets such as Europe and North America. The report is intended as a helpful guide in understanding industry risks and new opportunities as seen through the eyes of industry practitioners and Ernst & Young."
The World Takaful Conference (WTC 2009) is the worldâs largest gathering of Takaful industry leaders and the EY World Takaful Report will complement the insightful debates and discussions that will be carried out at the conference by the more than 300 senior executive attendees.
WTC 2009 is again held in strategic partnership with Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the world's fastest growing international financial centre.
A record number of industry leading institutions will also showcase their solutions and services at the exhibition taking place alongside the conference, highlighting the overall significance of WTC 2009 in shaping the future of the global Takaful industry at this critical juncture in the global financial markets.
